Restaurant-Style Seafood Linguine You Can Make at Home

Few pasta dishes are as satisfying as a bowl of seafood linguine. Tender shrimp, sweet scallops, and fresh mussels are tossed with perfectly cooked linguine in a light garlic butter sauce with a splash of white wine and fresh herbs. It's elegant enough for a special occasion yet simple enough for a weeknight dinner.

The best part? You can make this restaurant-quality meal in about 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces linguine
  • 8 ounces shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces sea scallops
  • 12 fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup dry white wine
  • ½ cup seafood or chicken broth
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

1. Cook the Linguine

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine until al dente according to the package directions.

Before draining, reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water.

2. Cook the Seafood

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Season the scallops lightly with salt and pepper, then sear them for about 2 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.

Add the shrimp to the same pan and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until pink. Remove and set aside.

3. Build the Sauce

Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the skillet.

Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Pour in the white wine and broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.

Stir in the lemon juice and red pepper flakes if using.

4. Steam the Mussels

Add the mussels to the skillet and cover with a lid.

Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until the mussels open.

Discard any mussels that do not open after cooking.

5. Combine Everything

Return the shrimp and scallops to the skillet.

Add the cooked linguine and toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated.

If the sauce seems too thick, stir in a little of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your preferred consistency.

Finish with chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.

6. Serve

Divide the seafood linguine among serving bowls.

Garnish with extra parsley, lemon wedges, and freshly grated Parmesan if desired.

Serve immediately while hot.

Tips for the Best Seafood Linguine

  • Don't overcook the seafood, as shrimp and scallops can quickly become tough.
  • Use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder for the best flavor.
  • Cook the pasta just until al dente so it holds up well in the sauce.
  • Add the seafood back to the pan at the end to prevent overcooking.
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon just before serving brightens the entire dish.

Easy Variations

Customize your seafood linguine with your favorite ingredients.

Try adding:

  • Crab meat
  • Lobster meat
  • Clams
  • Squid rings
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Baby spinach
  • Fresh basil
  • A creamy finish with a splash of heavy cream

You can also adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to make the dish as mild or spicy as you like.

What to Serve with Seafood Linguine

Complete your meal with:

  • Garlic bread
  • Caesar salad
  • Roasted asparagus
  • Steamed green beans
  • Bruschetta
  • Roasted broccoli

These simple sides complement the seafood without overpowering the flavors of the pasta.
